By using WorthaByte you agree to what follows. The short version: we work hard to be accurate, but prices and specifications move fast — always confirm with the retailer before you spend money.

What this service is

WorthaByte aggregates publicly available hard-drive listings and manufacturer specifications, then applies its own scoring to help you compare value. It is an information and research tool.

Our scores are opinions derived from named, citable factors — not professional, financial, or engineering advice, and not a guarantee of any drive's suitability, performance, or reliability. You are responsible for deciding what to buy. See the scoring methodology for exactly how each rating is computed.

Prices, availability, and specifications

Prices and stock are captured periodically from retailer pages and APIs. They can change or sell out at any moment, and a listing shown here may already be stale. Every price is a historical observation, not an offer. The retailer's own checkout page is the only authoritative price.

Specifications are cited to manufacturer datasheets where we can confirm them. Where a fact cannot be confirmed we label it Unknown rather than guess. We still cannot rule out retailer mislabeling, datasheet revisions, or parsing errors — verify anything you are relying on.

Purchases happen elsewhere

We do not sell hardware, hold inventory, process payments, or ship anything. Every transaction is between you and the retailer, under their terms, pricing, warranty, and return policy. We are not a party to it and cannot resolve order, warranty, or refund issues. We currently earn nothing from outbound links; if that changes it will be stated in the affiliate disclosure.

Acceptable use

  • Don't scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy the site's data, or run automated traffic that degrades it for others.
  • Don't republish our scores or datasets as your own, or use them to build a competing database.
  • Don't attempt to breach, probe, or interfere with the site or its infrastructure.
  • Personal, non-commercial use — including quoting or linking with attribution — is welcome.

Intellectual property

The site's original content — guides, scoring models, curated spec data, design, and code — belongs to WorthaByte. Product names, trademarks, and manufacturer datasheet content belong to their respective owners and are referenced for identification and commentary only. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any drive manufacturer or retailer we track.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any price, score, or specification is accurate or current.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WorthaByte is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or purchases made in reliance on the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
