Privacy policy

WorthaByte is a research tool, not a data business. There are no accounts, no newsletters, and no advertising profiles. This page explains — in plain language — the little data that is involved.

Last updated: 2026-08-18

The short version

  • We don't ask who you are. No sign-up, no login, no profile.
  • We don't sell or share personal information. Not with data brokers, not with advertisers.
  • We measure traffic in aggregate so we know which pages are useful — not to identify individuals.
  • Retailers are separate companies. Once you click through, their privacy policy governs, not ours.

What we collect

Usage analytics. We record aggregate events such as page views, approximate region, browser and device type, referring site, and which outbound retailer links get clicked. This tells us whether a guide is landing or a page is broken. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not joined to any identity.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data (IP address, timestamp, URL, user agent) for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. IP addresses are handled as operational data and are not used for marketing.

Nothing you type. Our calculators and the drive finder run entirely in your browser. The capacities, budgets, and configurations you enter are not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.

What we don't collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, postal addresses, payment details, or account credentials — because the site never asks for them. We do not have access to what you ultimately buy, what you pay, or your order details. Retailers do not share purchase contents with us. Should we enter an affiliate relationship in future, the most we would receive is an anonymous, aggregated report that a referred sale occurred.

Cookies and similar technologies

WorthaByte does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics may set a first-party identifier so repeat visits within a session are not double-counted; it is not linked to your identity and is not shared. Retailers may set their own cookies once you follow an outbound link — that happens on their domain, under their policy.

Outbound retailer links

Clicking a price or “view listing” link sends you to a third-party retailer such as ServerPartDeals, GoHardDrive, B&H, or eBay. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Those links are currently plain, untagged retailer URLs — see our affiliate disclosure for what would change if that ever stops being true.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not hold personal accounts or contact details, there is normally no personal data of yours for us to look up, export, or delete. If you believe we hold something about you and want it addressed — including requests under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA — email us and we will act on it promptly.

Browser-level controls also apply: you can block cookies, send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or use an ad or script blocker. The site is built to remain fully usable with analytics blocked.

Children

WorthaByte is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes and contact
